Dusting Attack

D A-Z
Also known as a dust attack, it is a stealthy tactic where attackers send tiny amounts of crypto (called ‘dust’) to a large number of wallet addresses.

The goal of a dusting attack may be:

  • De-anonymization: by tracking how the dust moves, attackers try to link different wallet addresses to the same owner and use this data for further malicious acts.
  • Network congestion: mass dust transactions can clog the mempool, drive up fees, and slow down the network.
