Whales are holders of a considerable amount of bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency. Usually, holders of no less than 1000 BTC or equivalent in other currencies, are considered as whales. Due to the size of their capital, whales can manipulate the cryptocurrency market, although it is not a requirement.
