APR

A A-Z
The percentage that a borrower pays on a loan or an investor receives for their investments. Unlike APY, APR does not include compound interest, so interest is calculated only on the original principal amount.

For example, if you deposit $1,000 with an APR of 20%, your profit in a year will be $200. In the context of loans, APR includes the interest on the loan, fees, and other costs. In this case, if the loan is $1,000 with an APR of 5%, the borrower will pay $1,050 by the end of the year, plus additional charges.
