The idea behind them sounds simple: to create a digital asset that not only maintains a target price but also preserves the holder’s purchasing power. In other words, it aims to protect not only against crypto market volatility* but also against inflation.

The segment also includes LendrUSD (USDL), created by the Lendr.fi platform. Its value is supported by a basket of assets and an oracle system that aggregates data from multiple sources. For now, USDL remains a niche instrument and is traded primarily on decentralized platforms.
What comes next
Today, flatcoins (inflation-linked crypto assets) are roughly where stablecoins were in the early stages of their development: the concept is clear, the potential is evident, but the market has yet to demonstrate large-scale applicability.
They still face several challenges: achieving liquidity, gaining user trust, demonstrating the resilience of their peg mechanisms, and finding their place within regulatory frameworks. Without these achievements, flatcoins risk remaining an interesting but niche cryptocurrency concept.
However, demand for inflation protection is not going away. If digital assets can offer a convenient and transparent way to preserve purchasing power, flatcoins (inflation-linked crypto assets) may become not just another cryptocurrency category but a new element of financial infrastructure.
